Uoleva Island, Ha’apai, Tonga

Uoleva – The best island in Tonga

In the low lying islands of the Ha’apai Group, within the Kingdom of Tonga, you will find Uoleva Island.  A true South Pacific paradise, with white sandy beaches and azure seas that almost don’t look real…

Uoleva Island lies 4 miles south of Lifuka, the island where you will land when you fly from the main island of Tongatapu.  Once you depart by boat from the wharf in the village centre of Pangai, in 20 minutes you will arrive on Uoleva where there are no roads and no shops – and you are truly off the grid on a remote island!  On Uoleva you have a choice of very comfortable accommodation options – most notably Sea Change Eco Retreat (see website link below).  Uoleva Island offers many options for adventure, discovery, water sports, relaxation and great food.  This is one of the best places in Tonga to swim with Humpback Whales – which can be arranged by Sea Change Eco Retreat who also operate Ha’apai Whale and Sail (the longest running whale watching business in Ha’apai).  You can also experience world class snorkelling, kite surfing, scuba diving and stand up paddle boarding.  Uoleva is also one of the most popular locations for yachties – being one of the most beautiful and protected anchorages in Tonga.
